MW2 strict nat

Postby mayrider » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:03 pm

you guys might already know about it but thought it wouldn't hurt to post. mw always said that my nat was strict and i needed to enable UnPnP but i would go in to the router and and it was already enabled that being said i finally figured out what's
up, I didn't know that you have to port forward some ports. this so far has made connecting to matchs alot faster and i think only 1 match has dropped connection since I did it .

Application: CODMW2 External port: 1500 Internal port: 1500 Protocol: UDP
Application: CODMW2A External port: 3005 Internal port: 3005 Protocol: UDP
Application: CODMW2B External port: 3101 Internal port: 3101 Protocol: UDP
Application: CODMW2C External port: 28960 Internal port: 28960 Protocol: UDP
Application: CODMW2D External port: 27015 Internal port: 27015 Protocol: TCP

here's a nice link to. pick router pick game and it gives all the settings

Oh yes absolutely it does , but the great thing about it is , it's one click to turn it on and off. I always turn it off when I'm done playing. I also have firewall and some thing else called defense plus. I'll probably end up forwarding ports anyway , I was just mildly surprised that the dmz actually worked for a change. These motorola surfboards are the bomb.

does port forwarding leave you vulnerable to anything?

I don't think so , I believe that is the whole purpose for forwarding , to just open those ports for that specific application but as I always say , If man built it , man can hack it. It is safer than dmz for sure though because dmz leaves you wide open.
